Regeneron Science Talent Search- Everything you need to know

Regeneron Science Talent Search is the oldest and most prestigious scientific research competition in the United States, and it is also the "Little Nobel Prize" for middle school students. Every year, more than 50% of the STS TOP300 finalists are admitted to Ivy League Schools!

If American high school students want to take the "last insurance" for the sprint to Ivy League schools in G12, STS will be your best choice! The application channel for the latest season of 2025 STS has been opened, and it is now the golden period for preparation! Let's take a look at this year's timeline and precautions!

What is Regeneron Science Talent Search

Regeneron STS was founded in 1942 and is sponsored by Regeneron. It aims to encourage the younger generation to invent new technologies and methods to improve people's lives and change the world.

Under the dual temptation of gold content and long-term value, STS has become one of the must-fight scientific research events for high school students across the United States and even the Chinese community.

Among the more than 500 students who have advanced to the STS semifinals in the past two years, 50-57% of the finalists were admitted to Harvard, Yale, PSU, and 70-76% of the students successfully entered the top 15 American universities!

1. Suitable students

Twelfth grade students in high schools in the United States and all overseas territories of the United States, as well as American citizen students living abroad (proven proof is required) are eligible to apply.

Students currently in grade 11 can start preparing for the project first, and apply for the application in the second half of the year, the first semester of grade 12, that is, the last year of high school.

2. Competition rules

1.STS must be competed and completed by a single person.

2.It is not allowed to participate in the competition with a completed team project;

3.It is not allowed to deliberately change a team project into a single project;

4.You can complete the research project with a scientific research mentor/college student, but they cannot interfere too much/directly affect the results of the student's single project;

5.Each student can only submit one project; the results must fully demonstrate the applicant's personal ideas.

Is it worth for high school students to apply Regeneron STS ?

Among the Regeneron STS award-winning students coached by Emabrk mentors, many students have successfully applied to their dream schools for further studies while gaining a unique scientific research experience!

Student G, who had participated in Regeneron STS, was admitted to both MIT and Caltech in the early application stage and won the offer of MIT CS that he had always dreamed of.

Early application admission: MIT CS

Academic performance: GPA unweighted 4.0/4.0, ACT 35

Awards: STS Top300

During the interview, Student G admitted that this was his first attempt at scientific research. While gaining a fulfilling scientific research experience, the experience of participating in the Regeneron STS competition made him learn to respect academics and scientific research.

With the help of Embrk mentor, student G combined his hobbies with scientific research through a research project and participated in STS. Through this experience, he improved his academic achievements and won the favor of his dream school.

"After this experience, I have a deeper understanding of scientific research, and I have also improved while enjoying scientific research!" Student G has endless words to say about his scientific research experience. I believe that it is precisely because of his enthusiasm for scientific research that he received recognition from the MIT admissions officer!

Many Embark students also entered their dream schools by participating in Regeneron STS. The following data is from Embark (not a complete statistics):

1.Embark B student won Regeneron STS TOP300 and was admitted to the University of Pennsylvania

2.Embark L student won Regeneron STS TOP300 and was admitted to Carnegie Mellon University

3.Embark M student won Regeneron STS TOP300 and was admitted to Columbia University

4.Embark L student won Regeneron STS TOP300 and was admitted to MIT

5.Embark R student won Regeneron STS TOP300 and was admitted to MIT

6.Embark W student won Regeneron STS TOP300 and was admitted to MIT

7.Embark S student won Regeneron STS TOP300 and was admitted to MIT

8.Embark D student won Regeneron STS TOP300, Stanford University admission

Scientific research is a cyclical project, and students need to continue to invest every week to get relatively satisfactory output. It is particularly important to find the right direction, tailor academic planning, and match topics!

If you are currently in G11, Regeneron STS is definitely the best choice for extreme back-up in high school!
